Gentrification has become a very crucial issue in modern society. As a consequence of development, steep rise in rent prices is inevitable, which results in forcing dwellers out of their place. We are often forced to be nomad by the rule the powerful predator named money creates. It seems to me that the different structures and shapes of new residences' walls and packed furnitures are the symbol of wanderers' life in modern society. They remind me of snow leopards driven out of their habitat caused by developments. By using installation and projection technique, I juxtaposed two different life of predators and wanderers.

Extention of precedent piece, I developed the trial to disband and redefine the grid spatially and solidly. Mureungdowon is oriental utopia. It usually can be described as figure with dreamlike clouds and mountains layered along. Based on the the 'open grid' from previous piece, I made a structure and used gauze to create geographical feature. I projected a video of city, people and animals, longing for world that everything can coexist and be free by breaking up the grid.
Cash, Electronic Scale
It is now a society that capitalism dominates. By following this new environment, rules for everything changes. This new criteria is very crucial because of its enormous power. But is it really true? I started doubting about the essence and value of money. Since the new bills weigh less than 1g, on normal scales, it is measured as 0g. I wanted to demonstrate humans being swayed and gain power with a piece of paper's weight that a scale cannot measure.

Since the ancient times, Origami was used for incantation. In Korea, people often fold dozens of paper cranes to make their wish come true. The paper crane in this work symbolizes harmony and prey. Panting work represents mismatched world that mixes everything including mountain made of cement, sky and earth. The purpose of Origami is to make stereoscopic form, keeping square paper in itself without breaking, tearing apart, nor recombining. I wish the world to be a place where nature and human species stop destroying themselves and interfering with each other and harmonize as they are.

The information-oriented society, where you can find anything easily, has arrived. You can achieve lots of informations and wants through a simple click or search. I wanted to find forgotten hope in this society. I exposed my will to find hope through video art, and used newspapers, paintings, etc. to represent nature and human race. I tried to find something by looking around, calling, and typing with my hands in the air. I was urging for attention and change.
Black Lipstick, Paper, Plastic, Performance

50 people were asked to describe what they want for the world by leaving lipstick marks on the prepared paper where grids are drawn. Everyone delivered their respective wishes for the world but I could not listen nor read them. However the grids that has been converged were transformed into the visual signs to create huge energy of hopes. I dressed white acts as a spokesperson for the planet Earth and the actor in his black dress tells her what he wishes as a spokesperson for all the living things including human beings and animals during their performance art.
This performance was a simple experiment using balloons. I pushed in a black balloon into a white one and injected water in it. What reaction will it show? The black balloon seemed like a lump of human's desire, and the white balloon looked like Earth tolerating all of those. I shivered in fear holding this heavy, growing balloon. When me and the balloon reached the limit, the white one exploded with thunderous roar, the black one couldn't resist its weight and fell and exploded. All I had left was fear and wet clothes.
