Dasul Kim is a media artist and educator working with video, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, generative and interactive media, and art games. Her practice portrays the human ecosystem as it is projected onto non-human entities, offering expanded interpretations of the body and identity, the material and the immaterial, technology and existence, self and world. Rooted in Korean tradition and culture as well as Eastern philosophy, and shaped by a personal intimacy with the digital, her work takes a post-humanist approach to image, virtual presence, and a digitally mediated oceanic feeling.
Her work has been exhibited in South Korea at Platform-L, Museum SAN, Post Territory Ujeongguk, Osisun, COEX, and KINTEX, and in the United States at LA Korean Cultural Center, Supercollider, Oxy Arts, New Wight Gallery, and Art Mora. She has received awards in quantum art and AI art competitions.
Kim holds a BFA in Sculpture and Art History and an MFA in Sculpture from Ewha Womans University, and an MFA in Design Media Arts from UCLA. She is currently Assistant Professor in the School of Photography and Motion Picture at Kyungil University.
